This is a soy sauce based condiment used throughout Indonesia. This sauce is the origin of the word ketchup. |
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons palm sugar(optional)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Water
- 2 leaves curry leaves
- 2 teaspoons galangal root
- 1 teaspoon star anise
Recipe
Heat up saucepan with the brown sugar. When brown sugar melts add the palm sugar and let it melt. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer on low for 15 minutes. Take out the galangal root and curry leaves and let the sauce cool. Put into a bottle and place in fridge until you are ready to use it.
