Ingredients

  • 2 cup red lentils or any other lentils
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 3 tablespoons coriander powder
  • 3 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon or more cayenne
  • 2 large diced fine carrots
  • 5 cups whey or water
Chank
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 medium diced onion
  • 3 cloves garlic diced
  • 1 medium tomato diced
  • 1 whole red chili pepper
 

Instructions

Wash Lentils.
 Add water or whey, carrots, and lentils to crock pot.
 Turn heat to low.
 Add diced fresh ginger, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and cayenne.
Cook for 8 hours. 
When lentils have been broken down into a mush it is done for this part.
 Make Chunk - In separate pan sauté in ghee on a high flame cumin seeds, onions, garlic, tomatoes and 1 dried red chile. Cook until golden brown. Add mixture to lentils. Add salt to taste. Garnish with fresh coriander.
