Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Chana dal
- 1/2 cup basmati rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 1 dash salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 medium diced fine onions
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 cups spinach
- 7 leaves curry leaves
- 1 tablespoon ghee
Garnish
- 10 sprigs fresh cilantro diced fine
Instructions
Wash Lentils.
Add water, rice and lentils to pan.
Turn heat to high.
Add diced fresh ginger and turmeric.
When mixture boils turn down heat and let simmer for 30 minutes.
Make Chunk- In separate pan sauté in ghee on a high flame cumin seeds, onions, garlic, and 7 curry leaves. Cook until golden brown. Add the fresh spinach and cook until leaves are wilted. Add mixture to lentils. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh coriander.
